- Syrians are the largest & the most popular species of hamsters.
- Syrians are solitary animals so they cannot be housed together. Siblings can stay with each other until they’re 8 weeks old as that will be when they will start become territorial.
- Syrians are nocturnal like all other hamsters
- Female syrians are often larger than male syrians
Consequences of being housed together:
- Fight (causes death or serious injuries)
- Stress (shortens life span)

Long haired syrian hamster care
- Coats groomed with toothbrush/flea comb to prevent matting twice a week
- Should not be given a wheel with gaps in it as their coats may get tangled up in it
